TODAY, THE NEW York Times published excerpts from bloggers in Iran who wrote about Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s visit to Columbia University last week.
Here is one excerpt: Can anyone imagine George Bush coming to Tehran and then criticizing the Islamic Republic’s policies in a speech? Is it plausible to imagine George Bush speaking about wiping Palestine off the map? Could George Bush talk about sending democracy to Tehran in Tehran?
Being a good journalist means having proper perspective. We need to see more than just our own viewpoint.
The danger with blogs is that they are hard to trust. Read this story to learn about the American government blogging favorable American messages in the Middle East.

Americans say that Ahmadinejad made a fool of himself in America, which only reinforces our opinion of him as a nutcase while the Iranians think was did a great job.
I think I would agree with the Iranians. There is no way he could answer such questions they asked him as straight forward as with a simple yes or no; "yes, I hate jews/homosexuals," etc. If I was the leader of Iran, my constituents are more important to me than westerners' opinions of me, people who are nothing like my people and do not share the same beliefs and do not understand my culture. Not only is he speaking to both sides, he has to speak FOR and represent Iran. There is no way one could convince either side to think like the other, and I believe he did a good job, even though he just beat around the bush and didn't answer anything entirely.
I thought it was absoltely amazing that he came to talk at Columbia. I DON'T agree with his philosophy or how he thinks, and there's nothing I actually LIKE about him, but I would of loved to have been there just to hear him speak. I don't agree with the people who came to protest. In America, we have free speech. That includes crazy Middle Eastern dictators too...sorry.
