TV Reporters Are People Too

NEXT WEEK, we will discuss the wonderful world of broadcast journalism, focusing specifically on local news.

Philadelphia has a particularly odd relationship with our broadcast anchors and reporters - they are as much celebrities here as they are journalists sometimes.

The clip above is a 6ABC blooper reel that they created and aired in 2004. Why did they show all their goofs?

NOTE: Read the story in the blue link ... it is HILARIOUS.

possibly one of the funniest things ive ever seen.

they show this so we feel part of the group, and hope to retain loyalty to their news broadcast.

That is brilliant. I think I officially love Cecily Tynan.

Their goal is to attract more viewers. This makes the cast more relatable and makes them seem like people who could be your friends which makes people more trusting of them. Therefore they're more likely to watch this station.

I laughed. I felt like I knew them, but isn't that what their whole objective was? It makes me want to watch the news and see if anyone messes up.

I love stuff like that...I think it's so funny!

Lori Wilson's clib WAS hilarious...she was totally clueless, which made it even funnier. And Bill Henley's face was priceless.
