IT SNOWED a lot this week. And if you've watched local television news, you've likely seen reporters standing in the snow, telling you that it snowed a lot. You've probably also seen a lot of maps, radar images, statistics, bundled up kids sledding, collapsed roofs, people shoveling and snowmen.
Watch the video above. Is it good television or just plain strange? Is he genuinely annoyed or putting on a show? If his frustration is real, should he be revealing that during the newscast?

Such good TV. I love when the audio clips during "RECORD BREAKING." Don't weathermen have a history of being kind of kooky/quirky? Look at our own Glen "Hurricane" Schwartz. His bowtie thing has yet to wear thin (among the lowest common denominator anyway.) Also, weathermen in the Northeast seemed particularly hyped about this storm. One D.C. forecaster was on NPR Tuesday patting himself on the back for doing such a great job predicting the Friday/Saturday snowstorm.
This didn't air on a local newscast, but on accuweather.com, where he reads the weather for lots of cities. So I don't think whatever rules you might make for a newscast would apply.
Regardless of where it aired, it is intended to be of news value to people.
Is he going over the top by trying to be entertaining? Is his faux annoyance distracting from what was actually a pretty big story - a massive snowstorm with blizzard-like conditions?

I think that he's just trying to put on a show, and personally, I find it very, very annoying. If I saw this, I would probably immediately change the channel.
ok....this man either wants attention or he just need some help. I do not believe this was an actual weather report. Every time I turned on the news they were out in the freezing cold telling the people at home to stay in. This man is in a warm studio feeding the public information and stats. He is a joke to me and I would never watch him for the real weather but probably to have a laugh.
I feel as if the reportet was trying to be entertaining and make the weather a funny situation. I actually found this very annoying and unnecessary. Also if this reported was to ever appear on the morning and/or late night news, I would most likely change the channel.

SOOOoo....I thought the weatherman gave FAR TOO MUCH emotion to the point where he seemed to be fake and actually rather tired of working that day. It was horrible.
This is way over the top. I found it extremely unnecessary and annoying. I agree that it seemed fake and would have most definitely changed the channel if i stumbled upon this.
I think he went way over the top, but not so much so that it is necessary to analyze it. If he was trying to be entertaining (which I think he was), he failed to viewers such as us who believe in the "old fashioned" view of journalism. But it was probably entertaining to the people who don't care that news wasn't meant to entertain.
Whether he was actually annoyed or if he was simply putting on a show, it was inappropriate. He was actually pretty annoying, I couldn't even stand to finish watching this short video. I don't think it's good television at all and I think that this behavior should not have been allowed. I think all the viewers can see that fourteen to twenty inches of snow is going to be a big hit and we don't need such dramatic behavior from this meteorologist. If he wished to express his feelings towards the snow storm, he could have done it in a much subtler way as I'm sure many other news reporters and meteorologists have.
wow everyone = super critical. Talk about hard to please... here everyone is complaining about all the snow reports.."we know its snowing, its obviously snowing" and this man ingeniously satires the necessity (or lack of ?) of a report on snow levels. Before I read all the negative comments, i thought this was the funniest thing all year.
I bet every weatherman/woman secretly gets their jollies of these record breaking weather reports. It give them a chance to break away from the vague guessing of mostly sunny, partly cloudy BS. A tornado would probably get this guy fired though.
abnoxious. I'm sure he was doing this to be entertaining and whatnot, I don't think it was necessarily that he was venting his actual frustration. His delivery, or "performance" though was terrible. I would've turned this off.
Watching this I felt like I was on the edge of a cliff hanging on hoping that this would become hilarious instead of bizarre and embarrassing. I think that he was trying to be funny, but instead having the funny wit of someone like Hurricane, it was reminiscent of Jackass.
I'm on the fence.
On the one hand if this was some SNL skit it would be taken as a great obnoxious joke. On the other hand his acting skills were that great and he was a bit annoying. Maybe it was his voice. Or face. Something. Eh-tv. It didn't contribute positively or negatively towards my day.
