We Are the Champions!

And I am a Boston fan! However, I went out tonight to witness the Mayhem. Some news van had its windshield smashed in, there were multiple fires in overturned plant holders... idiots were throwing bottles through windows, oh yeah and every single block had all the newspapers littering the immediate area.

I do think it is an awesome time to live in Philly, but hey as a hardcore Boston fan who saw and celebrated the Red Sox win it in 2004, man sometimes it is truly a disgrace to say I live in Philadelphia. I don't know why but Philly has always seemed to celebrate with borderline violence.

This city doesn't get enough chances to celebrate... Therefore, when the time comes we just don't know how. This isn't to say I didn't have fun watching people set things on fire at the corner of Broad and Sansom... MVP, Brad Lidge but MVP of the craziness that followed: the guy I saw jump off a traffic light, easily breaking both ankles and cutting his hand insisting that people back off and "fuck it, just party."

Yeah I saw that too... what an idiot. I just mean that going out and witnessing it was fun, me and my friends all were sober and went to have a good time. That being said, I didn't enjoy glass bottles being thrown around in the crowds, or paint balloons, full cans of beer, smashing windows, burning whatever possible.

Oh and back to that idiot jumping off the streetlight on Broad... the fool was carried away by his friends 30 minutes later and he could barely walk.
To be honest I'm pretty much O.K. with people burning the boxes, but vandalizing everything possible is just a reason I'm not sure I want Philly to win again. The city is dirty and the majority of it is a disgrace as is, and thats without people trashing Broad street from Temple to Patterson

This city deserved this. I had an exam at 8:40 am this morning and I still felt that I needed to go out at midnight and experience all the city mayhem that was taking place.
I had the best time walking the streets getting high fives from complete strangers, watching people car surf in 5 mph traffic, and screaming my lungs (that just so happen to be infected with bronchitis) out.
I watched history take place last night, it was the best.
I just wish some people did a little less trashing of the city, to me, you don't need to destroy things to celebrate.
But besides those kinda people, Philly was a great place to be last night!

Broad street was pure mayhem. People on street lights, fire trucks, and buildings. I have never seen anything like this, not even in movies or tv. It was great to have the city all unite and enjoy this moment. Everyone was high fiving each other and treating each other as if we were best friends. The whole city was connected and it was truly an amazing experience.

I'm a Boston fan too, and I experienced all of this a few years ago. I've always loved Philly sports as well though. It was like a giant vacuum of red and white sucking every fan to broad street, and the black hole that was center city. Among the senses I experienced: Screaming people, horns blaring, bottle's breaking, the smell of cigars, beer and sweat, and of course the red and white pin stripe that was the Phillies jersey. It was, to say the least: Blissful Chaos.

Josh were you in Boston when they won the Series? I seem to think that Boston fans didn't trash their city but instead went outside and just hugged / cheered / slapped hands with everybody. I saw a ton of older Boston fans crying even. I loved the overwhelming support the Phillies got during the win, but I just wished some people had a little respect for the city they live in (especially since I live here too!).

Wish I could delete the other post or edit it...

Anywho, the parade today was amazing. I went to that with my roommates and that was awesome. I can only imagine what it means to many of the people in the city to be able to bring their kids to see something like this for the first time. Great day for the city, just next time get smaller buses!

The celebration that occurred after the game did feature some questionable behavior, but when isn't there questionable behavior in this city. We all love this city for a reason, we've all got that edge in our personalities and most of us are pretty blue collar. With that combination, and a little alcohol, some things people might regret are going to happen. As far as the parade that was one of the greatest experiences of my life. Unfortunately I couldn't get a ticket to either the Linc or Citizen's Bank Park, but standing along the sidewalk was just as fulfilling. The best part of the parade was Chase Utley's quote. It may be controversial, but it really embodied how the entire team and city of Philadelphia felt. When the most cool, calm and collected player on the team reacts in that manner, anyone can tell how much this championship means.

Broad street was so fun that night! Everyone just giving high fives and having a good time. It's good to finally get a chance to see something positive in Philadelphia and not just crime. The whole city came out to celebrate a long awaited victory.

I will never forget being on Broad Street that night. I was just so excited and proud to be a Phillies fan. It is so great that our die hard Philadelphia fans finally got a victory! I will never forget that night and I hope Philadelphia will see another championship win in the near future. GO PHILLIES :)

This was some of the most fun I've had since I've lived in Philly. I was so proud to live here and it was probably the only time in my life I wouldnt be scared to walk to city hall at 1 AM. Everyone was just hugging and high fiving strangers.

I have never experienced anything like last Wed. night when the Phillies won! I felt bad about not going to the gym that day but running down Broad Street made up for that! It was so exciting to see everyone around City Hall cheering and just taking in the moment. Even when people started climbing on street lights and throwing beer bottles, I still couldn't get enough!

When the Phillies won the World Series I was actually at the game. It was an amazing sight to see then and an amazing sight to see on Broad St. after. As a longtime die-hard Phillies fan, even when they were horrible, I can easily say that this was hands down the best night of my life.
